Welcome November. And well welcome rain. A rainy, Sunday morning makes for a good sleeping-in and yes rain around here makes the lush, magnificent, depth of green possible. So once again....Welcome Rain! But let me not forget to say Sun, please know you are always welcome too.
Yes, its Fall in the Northwest. On go our rain jackets and wet weather gear, hearty soups are on the stove and pumpkin chocolate chip squares in the oven, all reminders Fall is in full swing and I like it.
And this wet November day was one for plays, pomegranates and pumpkins. My girl and her pal turned our place into the set of the "Wizard of Oz". Dimming lights, closing curtains, making the inside of our place more gray, of course, they said, to create stormy weather in Kansas. They ran through the show, stepping into character, creating props, singing songs and reciting lines. My girl has never watched but a couple of the happier scenes of the movie at her pal's house but that didn't matter, these girls went with it and created a show right in the moment all of their own. I was 'backstage" making dinner and listening with a close ear to the free-spirited creativity of these two. Now this made a great rainy day indoors.
And here their scene change...the backdrop for the "Emerald City"
And while I was "backstage" waiting for my scene (I played the part of the Wicked Witch) I had some fun taking pictures of this pomegranate. And I was reminded very happily that while Fall may mean rain, it also means pomegranates. They are one magnificent fruit, worth every bit of the journey to find these luscious seeds.
and here in effort to tie it all together I give you......"Pomegranates in the Rain"
Remember what I said about the Sun being welcome anytime...well here's a little glimpse of a rain-break at dusk from our upstairs window...
As the playdate came to a close, the sky now dark, the kids noticed this little visitor on our Jack-O-Lantern. A very large snail casts his shadow (or hers?) and ever so slowly made way around this giant orange pumpkin from dark into light.
Hope you enjoyed your weekend.....
